A rewarding opportunity currently exists within our Brisbane based team for a suitably qualified and experienced GIS Analyst.

GIS Analyst

Within this rewarding position, core accountabilities will consist of the following:

• Provide user and technical support under the direction of the discipline manager
• Complete technical activities across a variety of engineering projects
• Provide specialist advice to clients and contractors pertaining to the use and implementation of Geographic Information Systems
• Provide cartographic support to team members and clients
• Carry out data management tasks including acquisition, translation, editing, modelling, processing and updating of datasets
• Production of alignment sheets and datasets to support engineering functions
• Contribution to mobile and web mapping activities together with GIS application development
• Provide technical input into proposals and business development initiatives
• Promote the growth of geospatial services across the business
• Continually seek out technological improvement in order to provide superior geospatial services

To perform in this position, we are seeking an applicant with the following essential and desirable skills:

• Application of GIS using MapInfo and/or the ESRI suite (knowledge of CAD systems desirable)
• Proven ability to produce high quality cartographic products
• Knowledge of data capture methods (such as GPS and survey) and ability to manage datasets within a quality framework
• Familiarity with programming languages desirable
• Imagery and remote sensing analysis skills desirable
• 3D modelling and analysis skills desirable
• Strong written and communication skills
• The ability to work autonomously and to develop strong team relationship skills
• The ability to multi-task and meet competing deadlines
• Strong customer liaison and service skills
• Proven experience in a similar position preferably with exposure to oil/gas/utilities and mining industry sectors
• Commercial experience highly regarded
• Tertiary qualifications in geographic sciences, surveying, or computer science supplemented by coursework in spatial science
