Senior Drilling Engineer

Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE:

Ensure the implementation of sound Drilling Engineering practices onshore and offshore in accord with International Engineering standards, processes and practices and regional company standards and practices.

Well Objectives

Study the well objectives, sub-surface data and the target locations for drilling received from Geophysicists, in order to determine suitability and placement of rigs, geophysical survey, geotechnical survey and establish the borehole placement.

Staff Development

• Ensure all department staff are properly trained to carry out their duties in a fully proficient manner.
• Provide staff and engineers with individual objectives and appraise and mentor them on it to achieve department objectives.
• Organise and supervise the engineers to ensure that all work is based on established individual objectives, managed performance, development and motivation of engineers, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal to maximise levels of individual performance.

Engineering Design

• Develop the Casing Design, Bit Selection, Hydraulics Mud Design and Drilling Fluids, Drilling parameters, well trajectory, etc in order to execute drilling of the well cost effectively and efficiently.
•  May Supervise the Test Stimulation and provide feedback to vendors on any problems.

Evaluation

• Conduct evaluation after implementation and action review in order to assess the engineering procedures and quality of execution of work and implement corrective action for the future.

Sourcing of Vendors

• Provide technical input for the sourcing and evaluation of vendors and third party service providers to provide engineering services for Drilling in order to select qualified, competent and cost effective service providers. and their ability to deliver to specifications.

Cost Estimates

• Prepare reliable cost estimates and budgets for every Drilling project and well in order to obtain budget and AFE approval from relevant management officials.
• Supervise the preparation of the drilling budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues and areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified.

Health, Safety and Environment

• Ensure all Drilling is compliant with HSE and Government regulations.
• Supervise all processes are carried out in line with company policies, procedures and regulations and international standards in order to ensure a safe working environment so that the safety of employees, quality of products/services and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.

Scope : Offshore Indonesia in Pearl Oil Indonesia Group of Companies.

• Drilling the well in the face of down hole problems
• Managing multiple operations at the same time
• Maintaining the equipment in good and safe condition

Decisions

• The Supervising Drilling Engineer reports to the Drilling Manager and confers with him on all critical decisions
• The job holder takes decisions in line with authority levels established by Company management.

Communication & Working Relationship

Internal:

Communicates with the Drilling Manager, Drilling Superintendent, Drilling Engineering team, Offshore Drilling Supervisors, Chief Geophysicists, Petrophysics and Petroleum Engineering.

External:

Partners, Stakeholders, Third party service providers, Vendors, Government regulators (e.g BPMIGAS, MIGAS).

Job Requirements
Senior Drilling Engineer
Position for Indonesian National only.

Knowledge:
University degree in Engineering or equivalent preferably in Mechanical or Civil or Electronics Engineering.

Experience:

• Approximately 15 years with an operating company, 6 to 8 years of experience in Drilling Operations, Engineering Design and Execution.
• Offshore – jack ups and floaters. Some deeper water would be ideal but not essential. All of Pearl Energy’s work is offshore.
• Well design expertise with Landmark software (stress check, compass, etc).
• Knowledge of Well View softwear.
• Operations experience.
• Contracting experience in Indonesia.

Project Manager Development

Job Description

The Ruby Gas Field Development, Sebuku PSC, is part of Pearl Energy’s long-term domestic gas strategy in Indonesia and plays a vital part in our growth in Southeast Asia. The development will comprise an onshore team in Jakarta as well as drilling and related facilities offshore. Gas will be transported via a 312km pipeline to a receiving terminal onshore. Production is expected to start at the end of 2013.

Based in Jakarta, the Project Manager will be responsible for directing the execution of the Ruby Gas Project from Development to the Production phase. This is a key role in the organisation as Pearl Energy Indonesia develops key assets in its portfolio. Responsibilities include:

• Direct the compliance of all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the projects department
• Lead the Project team to deliver exceptional results and an attitude of continuous improvement
• Manage partnerships, service companies and contractors throughout the project lifecycle
• Monitor financial performance and timeliness of projects and provide analysis for monthly management reports
• Oversee and manage the contractors which are providing design, procurement, fabrication installation, on-site communication.
• Oversee the implementation of the Pearl/MOG functional policies, systems, processes, procedures and controls covering all areas of project management function so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service in a consistent manner.

Job Requirements

Your track record of delivering offshore projects throughout your career and a reputation for professionalism will stand you apart from the rest. Southeast Asia experience will be highly valued.
