A rewarding opportunity currently exists within our Brisbane based team for suitably qualified and experienced GIS Officers for a range of upcoming direct hire casual positions.
GIS Officer
Core accountabilities of GIS Officers will consist of the following:
- Provide user and technical support under the direction of the discipline manager
- Complete technical activities across a variety of projects
- Provide cartographic support to team members and clients
- Carry out data management tasks including acquisition, translation, editing, modelling, processing and updating of datasets
- Promote the growth of geospatial services across the business
- Cartographic skills and ability to create quality mapping products
- Spatial data analysis skills
- A thorough knowledge of GIS software with familiarity with database software
- Application of GIS using MapInfo and/or the ESRI suite (knowledge of CAD systems desirable but not essential)
- Knowledge of spatial data capture methods desirable
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work autonomously and contribute as an effective team member
- Ability to communicate progress and project updates to project managers
- Ability to multi-task and set own priorities amongst competing deadlines
- Strong customer liaison and service skills
- Tertiary qualifications in geographic sciences, surveying or computer science supplemented by coursework in spatial science either obtained or working towards completion highly regarded
