Senior Network Engineer

Position Summary

We are looking for a senior network engineer who can help build and support the GT Nexus network infrastructure. As a member of the Information Technology team, the successful candidate will work with various functional teams on evaluating, designing, implementing, and supporting networking technologies. The ideal candidate would have strong interpersonal skills and a track record in designing resiliant, high performance networks with strength in problem solving, project management, customer satisfaction and demonstrated follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Help define, implement and support the GT Nexus global network environment. This requires extensive and broad functional experience with switching, routing, firewall, VPN, wireless, content networking, and network management systems.
• Research, design, plan, and implement new network technologies into current operating environment.
• Look for ways to provide enhancements to existing network services. Make recommendations, define the ROI, and implement these improvements using an accepted change control methodology process.
• Define and follow standards and best practices for network design, testing, and implementation methodologies. Maintain network documentation.

Job Requirements

• 10+ years overall networking experience and minimum of 5 years as a Senior Network Engineer.
• Cisco CCNP or CCIE certification.
• Expertise in creating reliable and scalable network architectures with a focus on fault tolerance, performance tuning, monitoring, statistics/metrics collection and disaster recovery
• Expert working knowledge (including the ability to setup, configure, upgrade, manage, and troubleshoot) Cisco routers, switches, IPS, firewalls, wireless access points and F5 load balancers.
• Experience with Cisco Unified Communication Manager and Juniper networking equipment is a plus.
• Understanding of transport protocols, routing protocols, and security/authentication protocols at all layers of the OSI model.
• Must have knowledge of networking features and protocols such as spanning tree, ARP, CDP, EIGRP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, VTP, Etherchannel, 802.1Q trunking, MLS, HSRP, QoS, multicast, 802.11, IPsec, RADIUS/TACACS+, SNMP, T-1/E-1, BRI/PRI, MPLS and caching services.
• Experience with network management and monitoring tools.
• Experience supporting VMWare virtualization and Windows systems/applications on networking technologies.
• Certifications and/or experience equivalent to MCSE is a bonus.
