Position Summary

The Architect is a critical member of the GT Nexus project team responsible for the overall Solution Design across business, functional, and technical areas for our customers. They are also responsible for leading the analysis of the customer’s Supply Chain and ensuring that the Solution Design meets requirements and drives to the overall value the customer is trying to unlock. The Architect is a thought leader within the organization and works with our Products group to help identify, design, and drive product improvements.

This position requires strong communication skills, technical and supply chain knowledge, leadership capabilities, and an insatiable desire to learn. The ideal candidate will be comfortable interacting with customers, effectively working within a team environment, driving business process and technical solutions, and working in a fast-paced environment.

Scope of Work and Responsibilities:

The position requires some travel – generally during the kickoff and solution design stages of a project. The average travel is 2 to 4 days per month. As the Architect may work on multiple projects at the same time, they should be comfortable juggling and prioritizing a variety of tasks for each project. Key skills and capabilities that an Architect should possess include:

• Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to understand complex business requirements (process and technical). Ability to look at a business/technical problem, de-compose it, design a solution and most importantly, own it. Ability to listen to a requirement and assess the design impact on integration, solution configuration, scalability, and maintainability.
• Insatiable Desire to Learn: The Architect must have an in-depth knowledge of GT Nexus solutions to enable them to prescribe the best solution to the customer. It’s critical that the Architect have the interest and aptitude to roll-up their sleeves and learn, as product functionality changes rapidly.
• Supply Chain Knowledge: Strong understanding of International/Domestic Supply Chain concepts including participants and their responsibility, and operational flow of goods and data between participants from source to delivery.
• Customer Facing Skills: Must be comfortable leading in-person and teleconference meetings with customers and partners to define requirements and propose solution options. Must be comfortable leading a white board session in front of the customer and dealing with senior members within their organization.
• Experience Designing Software Solutions: Strong ability to translate customer requirements into Solution Design, including system configurations, integrated data architecture, and process design. The architect owns the Solution Design and ensures that it’s scalable and maintainable over time.
• Systems Integration Experience: Extensive experience with multi-enterprise systems integration. Understanding of object structures and their effect on integrated data flow between systems.
• Strong Communication Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be an expert in communicating complex technical/functional/business concepts in a straight forward and visual way. Must work effectively with other members of the Project Team.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years applicable work experience. Preferable if experience is from a consulting or software company in the Supply Chain space
• Bachelor's degree in technical or business field, masters a plus
• Prior experience and knowledge of supply chain logistics a plus
• Previous experience implementing software through a software development lifecycle (SDLC) implementation model, specifically with the following tasks:
• Scope definition and validation
• Business and technical requirements gathering
• Business and technical solution design
• Test plan development and execution
• Rollout planning and support and data migration

Note: Cloud based software delivery experience a plus

• Experience with RDBMS a plus, but at minimum, familiarity with database table structures and relationships
• Proven ability to successfully design and implement large integrated solutions involving multiple systems and parties
• Previous experience with EDI and XML message formats. Experience with the following a plus: X12 EDI 850, 856, 300, 304, 315, 210, 7501 as well as ability to understand data translation mapping specifications between message types such as EDI to XML
• Proficiency with Microsoft productivity tools: Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project, Visio. Proficiency with SQL, X12 EDI, XML, and related tools required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Direct customer facing experience and skills
• Passion for contributing to a growing business and fostering a team atmosphere
• Proven ability to be a strong team player – ability to work within a cross-functional team (products, engineering, sales, etc.)
• Self starter with motivation to learn and grow within a dynamic organization
