Description:
This position is responsible for the business development of APL Limited in Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. Accountabilities include successfully meeting the dry and refrigerated cargo sales budget as well as the overall revenue/volume sales budget; working closely with the General Manager and Area Sales Manager to develop commercial strategies to optimize account coverage, freight yield, customer base and increase the market share; generating timely and accurate weekly sales calls reports, business production / short falls as well as development of new accounts/business. Grow business opportunities with trade management to evaluate bottom line results.

Monitor bookings and customer activity to ensure APL’s market share and sales volumes are maintained / increased. Maintain effective communication with operations, APL sales offices and LTAM Pricing in order to fulfill customer needs based on APL’s business strategies.
Accountabilities:

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Sales

  • Directing and leading the commercial function in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic
  • Developing, communicating and implementing the business plan with clear goals and sales deliverables
  • Maintaining visibility with key customers, sales peers and vendors
  • Conducting sales calls within territory
  • Traveling within Puerto Rico and overseas, based on business requirements
  • Preparation, coordination, and accomplishment of yearly budget plans
  • Compliance with all corporate policies and administration
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Ability to travel in Puerto Rico and overseas, as needed, on a regular basis
Finance

  • Support and maintain sales business objective to exceed revenue and operational budget expectations.
Information Systems

  • Remain knowledgeable with all operating systems, changes in hardware and software technology
  • Prepare SJU and RHD Statistical sales reports (GQL/STAR/JOC)
  • Management of accounts through CRM.
Miscellaneous

  • Participate in local trade, professional and civic associations as a representative of the Company
  • Apply sound communication and motivational techniques
  • Must comply with written policies as set forth in Company handbook
Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years experience in Liner Sales experience in Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Business, Transportation, Management, Marketing or related field strongly preferred
  • Computer proficient in MSOffice
  • Fluent (verbal & written) in English and Spanish
