In this key Chassis Systems engineering role, you’ll use your expertise in Catia v5 to design and develop chassis and axle component packages. Using both Catia v5 CAD and TCe (TeamCentre) you’ll carry out geometrical package studies and clash detection, and generate static and clearance envelopes. You’ll focus on everything from concept feasibility to design and package feasibility across all suspension components, as well as sub-frames, brakes, wheels and tyres.

Ultimately, you’ll create a feasible set of components in the target vehicle package, which will enhance our peerless reputation for quality. You’ll be challenged to meet the project virtual series gateway requirements of releasing and freezing geometrical designs. We’ll expect you to work closely with Vehicle Packaging and functional component teams to ensure component feasibility, and make sure interfacing part owners buy into changes.

Candidate Profile

To join us, you’ll need a relevant degree, together with proven expertise in the use of Catia v5. If you do not already have TCe experience, training can be provided. Naturally, it will be an advantage to have a good working knowledge of chassis systems, along with a sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles. Experience of vehicle packaging is preferred, as is experience of systems integration (especially chassis systems) in a CAD environment. Ideally, you’ll have used CAD based FEA tools for basic strength and stiffness analysis, and you’ll also have experience of Catia parametrics and kinematics.
