And this role certainly represents the ultimate challenge for an engineer. You’ll be a key member of the ETO team responsible for engineering exclusive premium products for our top-line ranges, and for bringing a creative and innovative approach to unique and bespoke vehicles.

The department works in a nimble and responsive way, which means products can be brought to market quickly. Because it’s structured as an autonomous business, you’ll enjoy unprecedented freedom. Indeed, we’ll expect you to actively develop the team with new ideas.

Here, you’ll be responsible for taking a range of desirable Chassis products from design concept right through to volume production. These products will be hugely diverse, and may include carbon ceramic brakes, performance sports exhausts, special wheels, sports tuned springs, dampers, suspension components, snow chains – and more. They may be required for fitment on the production line, or at dealerships, and they may be produced in low or high volume. The sheer variety of projects means your skills will be stretched like never before.

Working closely with Design and Vehicle Engineering teams to define products and create engineering specifications, your goal will be to combine high quality with affordability – assuring ‘must-have’ status, and ensuring the total integration of each product with the vehicle. You’ll also collaborate with Purchasing, Programme Management, Manufacturing and the suppliers. Owning the full process for each product, you’ll select suppliers, develop CADD and CAE, define standards, produce releases and develop rigorous test regimes.

Candidate Profile

In addition to a degree in mechanical / automotive engineering, you’ll need demonstrable experience of delivering chassis engineering products, and specifically engineering automotive braking systems (preferably including carbon brakes and brake CAE). Naturally, you’ll have an understanding of brake system specification and the solutions to key refinement issues. Testing experience, and the ability to use Catia V5, will also be a definite advantage.
