Occupational Health & Safety Manager
Reporting to the President Director, the Occupational Health & Safety Manager will design,implement and manage the OH&S policies and procedures for the development, operation and
eventual closure of the Company’s mining operation.
The key roles and accountabilities include:
- Develop and to implement policies and procedures to establish and maintain a safe and
- healthy working workplace during the construction, operation and closure stages of the
- mine.
- Ensure that the mining and ancillary activities meet or exceed the requirements and
- obligations of prevailing Indonesian OH&S laws and regulations and are in accordance with
- international best practice.
- Keep abreast of the prevailing laws, regulations and codes of conduct which relate to the
- OH&S management of mining operations in Indonesia.
- Liaise with the relevant government institutions in all matters relating to the OH&S
- management of the project.
- Establish, equip and recommend staffing for the Company’s OH&S Department.
- Meet regularly with local health professionals and with the relevant local health authorities,
- to discuss the impacts of the mine development(s), policy implementation and/or any
- general issues relating to the OH&S of the company’s workforce and the workforce’s
- interaction with the local community.
- Assist the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager with the OH&S aspects of public
- relations by keeping the local people well informed as to the OH&S impacts of construction
- and operations and evaluation of the OH&S impact of Community Development
- programmes.
The successful candidate will possess the following key criteria:
- Relevant OH&S training and qualifications and preferably a Degree at Bachelor Degree level or equivalent
- in an appropriate discipline.
- Minimum of 8 – 10 years experience, preferably with some in remote mining areas, and a
- proven track record in a broad range of OH&S management activities.
- Financial skills to handle project and budget responsibilities.
- Computer literate in the Microsoft range of Office programs including spreadsheets,
- statistics programs and databases.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, in both English and Indonesian, to liaise with
- internal and external contacts at both national and international levels.
- High performing leadership.
- Advanced analytical and problem solving ability and planning skills.
