Position Summary
Designated mechanical specialist who is responsible for various duties including but not limited to the operational integrity, maintenance (preventive maintenance), installation and removal of mechanical systems/ components repair and documentation of the offshore unit's system, pipe handling system, rotary components, pumps, mud conditioning equipment, deck equipment such as winches, air tuggers and cranes, and auxiliary equipment such as compressors, pumps and water systems, piping, fittings, valves and emergency preparedness equipment. The ultimate objective of this position is to ensure that all mechanical systems remain operative throughout the operation and comply with safety, regulatory body and test standards.
Essential Functions
- Maintain the operational integrity of maintenance (preventive maintenance), installation and removal of mechanical systems/components, repair and documentation of the drilling systems.
- Understand drilling machinery as in the oil field today:
Drawworks
Top drives
Engines
Cranes
Pipe racking systems
Iron roughneck
Mooring systems
Hydraulic Systems
Sewage Systems
Piping Systems to include pumps such as Centrifugal and Turbine
General Mechanical and Machinist Knowledge
- Troubleshoots down to the component level. With the ability to make repairs to system and perform test to validate repairs.
- Maintains a high standard of safety and housekeeping to ensure area, machines and equipment are maintained in a safe and clean condition. Corrects and/or reports unsafe conditions and other faults.
- Follow Preventive Maintenance requirements and identify issues while making inspections.
Minimum Education and Skill Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of related experience with Technical skills such as: computers, calibration, hydraulics, pneumatics and comprehensive knowledge of oil and gas process equipment.
- Must have the ability to interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematic drawings to component level without being at equipment.
- Ability to extract read and understand data loggers.
- Ability to communicate to other technical people in verbally and in writing.
- The ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
- This position is classified as safety sensitive and is subject to random drug testing.
