This operationally and strategically important role is responsible for the coordination of the load & haul, drill & blast, civil construction and mine services to safely achieve mine production targets. The key role is to the profitability of the operation.

Specific duties include:

  • Comply with all PTNNT Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental requirements as well as those required under the Decree of the Ministry of Mines and Energy Number 555.K/26/M.PE and the Decree of the Ministry of Mines and Energy Number 1211.K/008/M.PE/1995.
  • Comply with all SHLP, Environment and Social Responsibility requirements under Newmont Asia Pacific Integrated Management System, Newmont vision and values.
  • Ensure department’s compliance with the requirement of Indonesian Government Agencies, lending institutions, shareholders’ interests, environmental, health & safety legislation and company regulation.
  • Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of every mine worker under or assigned to his/her supervision.
  • Provides strategic direction and leadership to all Operations functions within the Mine.
  • Establishes and manages Mine Operations goals and objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains Mine Operations standards.
  • Promote projects and programs in mine operations group that provide continuous improvement in the areas of safety, environment, production and efficiency.
  • Creates and implements policies and procedures that result in optimum effectiveness, productivity and operating cost.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills while managing and motivating an effective team.
  • Ensures the transfer of technology from expatriate to national employees and the promotion and support of national employee training and skill development.
  • Responsible for the development and management of manpower, operating and capital budgets for the Mine Operations departments.
  • Coordinate the activities of Drill & Blast, Load & Haul, and Civil Construction and Mine Services functions to ensure safe and efficient mining operations.
  • Monitoring operational and production targets and ensure the achievement of company production objectives through the effective management of interfacing with other departments and manpower resources.
  • Require multiple contacts across and beyond the organization, extending to national and international contractors, equipment suppliers, mining professionals.
  • Monitor and control costs in mine operations groups.
  • Ensure efficiency of operations and eliminate unnecessary and untimely expenditures.
  • Ability to contribute and ensure compliance with company mining and production plans.
  • Ensure that the expertise required to run the operations is passed on to all employees and that it is embedded in systems, policies and procedures.
  • May be required to travel to and assist other domestic and international sites.

Qualifications

  • Ideally applicants should have:
  • B.Sc. or MSc Degree in Mine Engineering, Geology or related field
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of mining related experience is required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of related Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in the management and administration of budgets and financial controls in a multinational company.
  • Strong leadership and a people oriented outlook.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
