Located in Baku, at the center of an increasingly significant part of the world, Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) has gone through a remarkable growth since its inception. We started as a training institute to meet urgent needs of our expanding diplomatic service. Hence, our name: Diplomatic Academy. But fast we have grown into a school of international affairs, now with both graduate and undergraduate degree programs.
Our Leadership Development program, first-ever in the country, is well sought out across Azerbaijan’s civil service. Baku Summer Energy School has become international success with faculty and participants from about 40 countries across the globe. We have grown from a small office into a three-floor building and plan to move into a state-of-the-art campus in just a short time. We are asserting ourselves on the world’s academic map by attracting renowned scholars, accomplished practitioners and talented students from around the world. At ADA, we are motivated by a need to establish an outstanding education for our own citizens in Azerbaijan, but we know that our growing nation also has a responsibility to bring first-class international education and leadership training for others in the region and the world, and to promote intellectual inquiry on many topics.
Our academic programs, which are attracting the best and brightest, are already making ADA a clear intellectual epicenter in the region. A focus on student’s individual strengths and professional goals, and a vision for a collaborative dialogue among scholars and practitioners, is helping cultivate a new, close-knit group of world-class leaders. ADA has started as a school of international affairs, but steady expansion of programs is leading us toward a university.
In addition to academic programs, we take our responsibilities to Azerbaijani society seriously. We are building the first substantial foreign language library in Azerbaijan. We have combined research and teaching while seeking fresh insights into the challenges Azerbaijan faces as an increasingly important player on the international scene. And we are building a new “green” and "smart" campus, which will open by September 2012 in Baku’s thriving downtown.

ADA is a school of international affairs and business dedicated to preparing innovative global leaders and to promoting useful collaborative research on diplomacy, international affairs and business. Currently, we offer Executive Education, Degree Programs and English Language Instruction. Because of this combination of goals and programs, ADA has a curriculum that is genuinely unique.
We put students at the very center of the ADA community, giving them the opportunity to tailor their education to meet their specific interests and needs. Founded by the Azerbaijan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and chartered by a Presidential decree, ADA also offers the perfect setting to conduct academic and policy research on regional and international topics. ADA plays a significant role in developing a productive research climate and in stimulating a forum for innovative ideas in Azerbaijan.
It is these compelling differences – a singular focus on international affairs and business, an innovative model of learning, a unique setting for collaborative research – that are already making ADA a unique center of learning in an increasingly strategic region of which Azerbaijan is part.
ADA opened its doors to students in January 2007. Now housed in its temporary building, ADA will move to its permanent “green” and "smart" campus, which will open in downtown Baku, in September 2012.
We will move into our new campus with a significant program expansion as well. ADA will remain as a School of International Affairs, while we also plan and launch a School of Business. This new university will emerge in the new campus with both School of International Affairs and School of Business.
