Hong Kong-headquartered Leighton Asia is wholly owned by Australia’s Leighton Holdings, one of the world’s major contracting, services and project development organisations as well as the world’s largest contract miner. Through a number of diverse and independent companies, including Leighton Asia, Leighton Holdings spans many countries in Asia, the Middle East and Africa as well as Australia. Each operating company functions independently but within a corporate governance framework defined by Leighton Holdings, which sets standards for ethical and financial performance, health, safety and rehabilitation, and community and environmental matters. Sydney-based Leighton Holdings was founded in Australia in 1949 and listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in 1962.
