VOA Indonesia began broadcasting in 1942, shortly after the U.S. government established the VOA. And since then, VOA Indonesia continues to be in the air. During the first 56 years, people in Indonesia is only able to capture the VOA shortwave radio transmitted from outside Indonesia. Description of Work:

• POV is not tied to an employee in charge of translating, researching, writing and reading a script worthy of news broadcasting. They are involved in all aspects of the process of radio and television broadcasts. POV can also be involved in television production and management of websites and email services. In addition, POV can also work on special projects such as promotional campaigns VOA.

Employment status:

• POV acting as contractors or consultants. This means they do not receive benefits like health insurance or paid time off. POV received honoraria according to work orders that are fixed.

Visa and Work Permit:

• To be a POV, a candidate must be a U.S. citizen or have valid work permits in the U.S.. VOA does not provide relief for a work permit for the contractor. Students, or those who just graduated and has a F or J visa can be a POV with permission of OPT (Optional Practical Training) through their academic institutions.

• POV to be fluent in Indonesia and have a good knowledge of English, and familiar with the culture and U.S. politics. Background in the field of communication are preferred. Candidates must pass a test that consists of four sections to demonstrate their ability to translate, write and read the news. If elected, candidates must go through background checks and security before starting work.
