Position Summary

The website is the company's most vital marketing tool. As the Internet continues to rapidly evolve into new mediums (social, mobile) and more advanced languages, it is critical that we have a dedicated technical resource to ensure we have a best-in-class website. As a Web technology company, it is critical we demonstrate our competence at this very public place. GT Nexus is seeking a Web Developer to join our marketing team and oversee the more technical aspects of our website and associated tools. The candidate should have strong technical skills, demonstrated proficiency with programming/scripting languages and databases, and a passion for the latest and greatest in Internet technology. Responsibilities include:

• Work collaboratively in developing, maintaining, and constantly improving our corporate website so that it is a great experience for our visitors -- compliant, fast, Web 2.0+
• Manage and improve content management tools and scripts to support the changing needs of a growing company
• Perform regular upgrades to PHP and databases; monitor error logs
• Optimize site for SEO and maintain optimization
• Monitor and report on site metrics and analytics; help implement ideas that improve site stickiness
• Proactively research, evaluate and implement new emerging Web technologies that can improve visitors' experience (elegant site search, mobile optimization, best practices for compressing/converting/embedding /streaming multimedia, podcasts/itunes, social media best practices, widgets, font technologies, fade-ins and other effects, internationalization, etc.)
• Maintain versioning system
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise
• QA updates across multiple platforms and browsers
• Develop, maintain and thoroughly document procedures and specifications

Job Requirements

• Advanced PHP, HTML / XHTML, CSS, MSSQL, MySQL, IIS, JavaScript, jQuery, Zend, Windows 2008
• Solid knowledge of standards-based, cross-platform and cross-browser Web development and best practices
• Committed to documenting policies and procedures
• Solid knowledge of code version control
• Deep knowledge and interest in cutting-edge Internet technologies
• Good communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
