TAT The Astonishing Tribe, part of Research In Motion is creating user interfaces for BlackBerry mobile phones and tables. In our office in central Malmö we work with concepts, interaction design, visual design, application development and further development of our core technology. We continue to grow and our Application Development department is now looking for an experienced Software Developer.

Position Summary

As a Software Developer in the Application Development department, you will participate in the implementation of next-generation applications and user interfaces in future RIM devices. You will work in agile teams close together with framework engineers, UI engineers and designers. As Software Engineer, you implement the UI features and link the presentation layer with the underlying system. Your focus will be application and UI development where appearance, performance and quality are key factors.

In this position, you will be working with:

• Application user interface development; in application teams together with UI engineers, designers and other developers, creating beautiful and well functioning applications/​​user interfaces
• UI feature development, architecture, integration, troubleshooting, performance and problem solving
• Cooperate with other RIM teams primarily in Malmö, the US and Canada
• Product requirements and bug reports to improve the programming tool you are working with

Qualifications

Skills we believe you need for this position:

• At least 5 years of professional C++ experience
• Excellent (embedded) software design skills and deep architectural understanding of embedded applications
• Oversee the implementation and governance of architectures of project and application platform
• Very well versed in the various development patterns
• Superior creative and innovative problem-solving skills
• Experience in integrating software and solutions on different mobile platforms
• Experience in developing graphical UIs
• Initiative and the ability to work independently and in a team
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing

We would be very excited if you also have:

• Technical lead/coordination abilities
• Experience of agile and fast-paced software development methodologies like XP or Scrum
• Excitement for the latest trends in application design and interest in learning more about new languages and frameworks
• An eye for graphical details and a design interest
• Willingness to travel to other sites on short- and/or long -term assignments
• Flexibility to work outside of business hours due to the different time zones if/when needed
