Purpose

A Senior Site Geologist role is designed around the incumbent's technical expertise in an area with functional knowledge of related areas. Their acquired knowledge assists them and their managers in making decisions relating to the organisational plans. Their experience is beneficial to colleagues with lesser experience.

Core Accountabilities

Provide reliable geology information and interpretation to Superintendent Geology to design and update drilling plan and target geological mapping to lead effective and efficient drilling operation and mapping.

Coordinate various samples despatch from sites to laboratory and the analysis progress.

Geological data validation prior to delivering the data to the Superintendent geology.

Liaise with Modeller to ensure the interpretation is valid and feedback is distributed to sites.

Liaise with HSES team on PELTHR documentation and monitoring the implementation to minimise delay on drilling and mapping activities.

Provide maps are updated for site geologists.

Provide and update daily and weekly drilling reports to stake holders.

Ensure drill sites pegging is sufficiently ahead to the actual drilling.

Coordinate with Contractor for Drilling plan and mapping

Demonstrate and instill an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development

Demonstrate commitment to the BHP Billiton Charter and Code of Business Conduct

Ensure compliance with relevant GLDs

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities

• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite, geological database and geological modelling software).
• 5 Years or more of relevant experience
• Tertiary qualification in relevant field or equivalent industry and/or organisational experience
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to enable effective interaction with minesite / exploration staff, landholders, Traditional Owners and contractors
• Capable of working with minimal supervision
• Good project management, budgeting and cost control skills
