Job Summary:
The Advertising Sales Manager will work directly at managing and developing strategic client relationships with decision makers in midsize to large companies to achieve specific revenue goals. This position is ideal for a self-motivated sales professional with experience selling integrated media programs designed to meet specific customer goals. This individual will sell magazine, website and email newsletter advertising and sponsorships in North America, working in collaboration with a brand team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage existing customers and identify new ones to build long-term relationships, customer satisfaction and loyalty
- Create custom proposals designed to meet stated customer goals
- Accurately forecast territory revenue, and achieve magazine and digital media revenue goals
- Travel to client sites throughout North America as needed (approximately 40% travel)
- Travel to industry events and conferences to meet with existing customers, prospect for new customers, close business, and raise visibility for the brand in the industry
- Maintain customer/prospect database and comp list
- Manage collection of customer ad creative and delivery of program performance metrics
Essential Qualifications:
- 4+ years sales experience, preferably in advertising/media
- Proven sales success:
- ability to close sales quickly using a consultative selling approach that leverages PennWell’s editorial and market leadership strengths
- ability to retain customers and increase their investment level over time
- ability to find and close new customers on an ongoing basis
- attention to detail in both selling and program administration responsibilities
- ability to achieve and maintain market share leadership for assigned territory
- strong customer service skills
- strong problem-solving and listening skills
- ability to perform as an individual and work effectively with a cross-functional team
- Must understand web-based advertising solutions. Examples include but are not limited to: webcasts, podcasts, banners, video and other digital media products.
- Competitive nature and financially motivated
- Skilled at using Microsoft Office applications (including Excel and PowerPoint)
- Experience using contact management software
- Previous sales experience in advertising/media
