Position Description
The Senior Project Manager is ultimately accountable for leading cross-functional teams to deliver against the baseline scope, schedule, and budget for New Product Development (NPD) and Product Line Extension (PLE) projects. This individual will be expected to act quickly to detect problems at their onset and make quick decisions to resolve them.
Primary responsibilities:
- Lead projects throughout their life cycles; through initiation, detailed planning, development, validation, and production upgrade.
- Manage both validation testing and early qualification production for development projects to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Capture project baseline scope, schedule, and budget that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Develop detailed project management plan, work breakdown structure (WBS), schedule, budget, and supporting documentation required by the JTI product development process.
- Track project performance against the baseline and proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
- Accurately estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals and lead a cross-functional effort to acquire the needed resources; then assign tasks to project members.
- Develop a risk management plan to anticipate and influence both risks and opportunities.
- Coach, mentor, motivate and lead project team members (internal and external), and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
- Communicate project status to stakeholders through reports and presentations to regularly manage expectations.
- Identify and report problems, participate in fixing problems and assist in improving processes and products.
- Technical BS degree.
- Typically 8-10 years experience managing technical product development projects in a manufacturing environment and bringing those products to the market.
- Semiconductor experience preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification a plus.
- Experience with Theory of Constraints (TOC) a plus.
- Experience working with cross-functional departments including Product Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Assembly, Quality, Design, Field Service and Sales groups.
- Demonstrated leadership working in a matrix organization, with very strong collaborative and influencing skills.
- High level of analytical skills to make critical decisions and solve problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable communicating with executive management.
- Knowledge and experience using project scheduling software.
