Senior Associate Scientist - Bioanalytics

YOU have experience in analytical chemistry, especially in the field of advanced mass spectrometry (MS, MS/MS) coupled with either gas or liquid chromatography (GC, LC). You are highly motivated and are ready to work independently within a dynamic and international work environment. You are always committed to deliver work of the highest quality and are comfortable handling multiple priorities with challenging timeliness whilst maintaining a high level of productivity.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The successful candidate will join the Targeted 'Omics & Special Analysis Group at Philip Morris Products S.A. in Neuchâtel, Switzerland and will perform method development and analysis in support of studies conducted to identify and quantify aerosol constituents and metabolites in biological matrices.

Specifically, you will:

• Develop and validate GC- and/or LC-MS/MS methods for the quantification of metabolites and aerosol constituents in biological matrices and aerosols
• Discover, quantify and qualify new biomarkers
• Study and recommend new techniques in sample purification, analysis and automation
• Provide training to new and less experienced departmental staff
• Serve as the 'principal investigator' on key research work packages
• Analyze technical data and draw conclusions
• Write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), research protocols, study plans and study reports
• Ensure adherence to protocols, SOPs, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and applicable regulatory guidelines when necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

• BSc, MSc or PhD in chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry or equivalent biomedical qualification
• At least three to five years of hands-on experience in bioanalytical method development, validation and sample analysis using GC- and/or LC-MS/MS techniques
• In-depth knowledge of GC/LC/MS/MS techniques and sample preparation is essential
• Experienced in biomarker discovery
• Significant experience with the development of study protocols, SOPs, validation and analytical reports in accordance with GLP guidelines
• Experience in working in a project-oriented, deadline-driven environment
• Well developed communication skills, problem solving skills, creative thinking as well as the will to be a team player
• Fluency in both spoken and written English
