Fire Safety & Emergency Response Consultant

Responsibilities:

• This position is part of the Major Hazards Management team that is responsible for predicting the hazard consequences of a large scale fire or explosion following the accidental release of flammable material. We provide guidance to projects and operating assets within Shell to ensure engineering designs maximise safety against such fire and explosion events.
• Specialist support to Projects and Asian upstream and downstream businesses in application of fire safety
• Undertake fire safety assurance reviews for current operations and for new Projects Ready For Start-Up (RFSU)
• Provide fire safety engineering input to support the safe design,layout and operation of facilities
• Technical assurance (scope,manage and review) of fire safety studies undertaken by 3rd party Contractors.
• Interpret output and communicate implications to clients
• Share knowledge of fire safety within Shell via training courses and internal networks.
• Undertake pre-incident planning assessments and provide associated training courses
• Specialist advice on ER strategies at local and regional level

Requirements:

• Substantial experience as an Incident Commander, Fire Chief or Emergency Response Coordinator
• Demonstrated ability to develop fire prevention and incident response strategies
• Knowledge of fire safety engineering input into facility design
• Experience in advising on major hazard consequence mitigation.
• 10+ years oil & gas business or petrochemical experience.
• Strong communication and reporting skills are essential as is fluency in written and spoken English.
• In addition to the above, we are looking for people who have experience of working in an Upstream business in a fire safety or ER capacity.
