Description
Reporting to the Director Gas Trading Accounting and F&PA, the successful candidate will perform marketing accounting functions related to the Canadian Natural Gas Trading Business
Responsibilities
- Actively review access query exception reports
- Review and resolve various system generated issues
- Consolidate and deliver volume reports
- Evaluate and provide Canadian deals summary
- Ensure account reconciliations are accurate
- Assist in reconciling intercompany transactions with equity accounting
- Coordinate with front office to ensure that deals have been entered correctly
- Provide coverage for other desks as need
- Assist and work on other responsibilities and tasks as needed
- Prepare, validate, and submit monthly physical accrual
- Provide explanation of accrual to actual results
- Validate and complete monthly reclassification entries (buy/sell, AR/AP, GST)
- Make manual imbalance entries based on pipe position
- Report monetary and physical volumes to government entities
- Generate and validate monthly/quarterly URD analysis (IS, BS, CF, Budget)
Basic/Required Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, preferably Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Strong accounting and finance knowledge
- CMA, CGA, CA designation is considered an asset.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel and SAP
- High level of initiative, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision in an open trade floor environment
- Excellent communication skills with a continuous improvement mindset
- Understanding of upstream operations
