Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia in San Francisco (hereinafter referred to as SF Consulate) includes RI's oldest representative in the United States. Opened in September 1952 with the status of the Consulate. In October 1968 its status was upgraded to Consulate-General, but with the opening of a representative in Los Angeles RI representative status in San Francisco was changed back to the Consulate. Status Consulate is then raised back to the Consulate-General in 1993.
SF Consulate working area covering 5 states in the West and the Pacific coast of the United States. Five states are Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Washington State and parts of the State of California, known as the Northern California - the city of San Francisco - as its main city. In the division of territory in the United States, the State of Northern California, Oregon, and Washington are included in the "Pacific Northwest". Idaho entered the Rocky Mountain region called together the State of Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. While Alaska is its own territory. The fifth state is a region with huge potential for the economy of the United States because it is a state that has a "comparative advantage" typical al Northern California as a financial center, high tech, trade and tourism, timber industry and Oregon have shoes (Nike); Idaho potato producer, Washington State has the aircraft industry (Boeing), software (Microsoft), industrial coffee (Starbucks), and Alaska is the largest state in America that has oil and gas industry, tourism and fisheries.
