Position Summary
Responsibility for the achievement of financial and business objectives relating to targets set in regard to Sub Sahara Africa and other specific independent channels & projects.
Reports to: Head of Channel Marketing Sub Sahara Africa
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the achievement of financial (e.g. revenue, net activation) and business targets (e.g. Channel Programme effectiveness - ROI, market share, category leadership) for the complete BlackBerry portfolio set in regard to the relationship with carriers, independent channels and agnostic projects
- Work with Carrier partner (under the leadership of the Head of Channel Marketing and in conjunction with RIM internal marketing teams) to develop, communicate and implement jointly agreed Marketing Objectives/ Strategies/ Plans/ Programmes in support of the strategic business plan - leveraging all elements of the Marketing Mix. These are to be revised quarterly.
- Responsible for forecasting, budget/ expense planning and management, programme tracking, measurement etc. Monitor and manage performance to ensure objectives are met and report/ correct any deviation from plan. Ensure these plans are linked to the Carrier sales plan, and complement agreed joint objectives
- Grow number and seniority of relationships within the Carrier group. Be responsible for building and managing relationships with key marketing executives within the specific Carrier organisation to increase mindshare/ awareness/ market share in regard to the BlackBerry portfolio.
- Ensure/ contribute to the successful launch of new products - in conjunction with the specific Carrier partner.
- Facilitate Carrier customer success and in so doing ensure RIM's success.
- Ensure new products are planned for and introduced in a way that complements the carriers own marketing strategy and key propositions
- Ensure that BlackBerry is avalaible across a wide range of payment options, plans and offerings significantly broadening our target market
Essential Skills And Qualifications
Business/ Marketing degree or senior marketing qualification or equivalent an advantage, MBA preferred.
Industry experience
- The candidate needs to able to 'hit the ground running' - therefore telecommunication experience is a prerequisite, 3-5 years minimum experience necessary
- Need experience relating to from handset to software to solution provision, Telco and/ or I. T.
- Carrier experience essential
- Pertinent market knowledge and industry contacts highly desirable (specifically the retail market / channels)
- Prefer if candidate has dealt across a number of international territories
- Sensitivity and experience in dealing with North American business culture desirable
- A proven track record paramount - that demonstrates strategic use of marketing tools to achieve financial objectives e.g. programmes that have resulted in increased revenues, growth in market share
- Can demonstrate understanding of the interconnectedness of disciplines (marketing and sales)
- Has financial acuity, has experience of zero-based budgeting i.e. can formulate and negotiate a budget and achieve it accurately.
- Strong Personal skills, needs to maintain excellent relationships with our carriers and ensure that RIM support is seen as best in class
