Role synopsis:
The Refinery Supply Team supports the Australia and New Zealand Marketing and Refining arms by providing a competitive supply and trading function that covers both products and crude, including the management of Bitumen supply. The team is responsible for developing and executing short-term and mid-term supply strategies to maximise the profitability of our assets and ensure customer demands are met via:
  • Crude Selection: Optimisation of the crude selection process to produce the correct mix of products to meet market demands and maximise margins for BP's refining assets.
  • Product Supply Negotiation: Negotiate agreements with suppliers and buyers to secure product to meet BP customer demand and sell surplus refinery supply whilst maximising commercial gain for BP.
  • Coastal Scheduling and Shipping: Plan product distribution from manufacturing refineries and supplement product imports to Australian and New Zealand coastal terminals to maintain steady stock flow and avoid stock outs.
The Supply Operator is primarily responsible for supporting the scheduling operations in the supply of oil and bitumen to the Australia and New Zealand terminal facilities. The role is key in ensuring the oil movements are reflected appropriately in systems (SAP) and any issues are owned and resolved.

Key accountabilities:
  • Support feedstock/product scheduling and inventory through ticketing for Other Oil companies and third parties on Nominations.
  • Ensure contract details are correct for Nominations including delivery terms, pricing details and any specific requirements for spot deals.
  • Operate and maintain best practice processes, systems (SAP) and reports to pro-actively identify intervention opportunities and escalate issues that cannot be resolved within the Supply team.
  • Provide analytical support including data analysis of monthly performance targets for the scheduling team and analytical support for the development of opportunities to optimise supply.
  • Manage ticket corrections where required, reversing and re-creating tickets on imports (excluding crude’s), exports and coastal nominations.
  • Check Service partner details that have been added into Nomination and ensure they are with the correct partners for that Voyage – inspectors, port fees, freight, demurrage, and customs.
  • Develop in depth knowledge of scheduling/demurrage/contracts and support/provide leave cover as required.
  • Manage and document processes, ensuring that they are efficient and effective as well as sufficiently controlled.
  • Monitor and report any deviations from plan for completion of month end activities and make recommendations for process improvement.
  • Support continuous improvement by developing and establishing key performance and efficiency metrics to benchmark and align performance.
Essential Education:
  • Degree in Business or technical discipline (Finance, Engineering etc.)
Essential experience and job requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in analytical and data focused roles
  • Track record demonstrating willingness to lead processes and proactively solve problems.
  • High degree of influencing skills with proven experience engaging and networking across teams.
