Role synopsis
The L&D Manager will be responsible for providing Learning support to the business. This role requires a very experienced learning professional equipped with the right client-facing skills to succeed.

This role is accountable for developing the annual functional learning needs analysis, working with the other L&D Mangers to prioritize and plan course development, and serve as single point accountability for course work.

He/she will partner with our instructional design staff on “fit-for-purpose” learning solutions and will liaise with the function to properly source the required Subject Matter Experts required to build content.

He/she will partner with Upstream Learning staff on the evaluation and communication plans associated with the learning offer.

In addition, as a member of the Upstream Learning team this individual will take on additional tasks and projects when directed.

Key accountabilities
Conduct annual functional Learning Needs Analysis and serve as Single Point of Accountability for new/existing course development throughout the learning lifecycle.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Identify, secure and own the relationship with the key stakeholders, course sponsors and/or custodians within programmes.
  • Implement current learning approach with Change and Transformation Teams
  • Use accepted Performance Consulting techniques to properly define the business/performance issues that may require learning interventions, help uncover the underlying causes of these performance issues, and oversee development of the right learning solutions. Manage programme learning risks and change requests – escalating through programme structures where required.
  • Work effectively with the other L&D Managers to help prioritize and plan the annual E&P Learning course development work.
  • Partner with ISD staff during the design/development phase to create fit-for-purpose learning offers that drive improved business performance.
  • Identify, secure or use current the required subject matter experts either from the function or externally to help build the right content.
  • Work with function and the faculty lead to secure required instructors.
  • Provide required care and maintenance of existing curriculum. Assist Change and Transformation Manager in leading Learning Design Authority group to ensure sign-off of training materials. Also lead learning working group meetings with functions and regions.
  • Partner with communications specialists to create and publicize “success stories” in support of the learning offer.
  • Leverage key learnings/best practices with subsequent implementations.
Essential Education
BS/BA degree is required

Essential experience and job requirements
A minimum of 5-10 years as a learning/OD professional.

Desirable criteria & qualifications
  • Masters degree in learning or organizational development preferred.
  • ERP experience a plus
  • Oil /gas industry experience a plus
