Responsibilities:
- Provide Pipeline Engineering support to projects developed and executed by the Shell International Exploration & Production US Onshore Projects team
- This position will support Upstream Onshore Projects that are jointly being executed by the Houston based projects and discipline engineering teams
- Key aspects include delivery of safe, reliable, fit for purpose, innovative and cost effective designs through oversight of EPC discipline engineering personnel, design activities and deliverable development (Pipeline systems within the scope of this assignment are primarily the interconnecting piping between well pads,gathering systems, compressor stations, and NGL Plants)
- Provide technical assurance of pipeline designs through appropriate application of Shell technical standards and specifications,implementation of DCAF and review of critical EPC design deliverables and activities
- Provide guidance and assistance to EPC discipline engineers in resolution of technical issues,including provision of Shell Operations and Maintenance and Integrity experience and constraints
- Ensure schedule and cost considerations are included in design decisions,while maintaining primary responsibility to assure safe and appropriate quality designs
- Ensure Piping related activities are executed in alignment with Shell's Project Delivery Roadmap, Opportunity Realization Process and HSSE Standards
- Develop strategies/conceptual designs during early project phases
- Audit construction field activities for compliance and assist in resolution of field non-conformance issues and assist in FAT, SAT and commissioning activities, as required
- Design and develop, as required, innovative technical approaches to Pipeline issues and contribute to continuous business improvement initiatives (fit for purpose)
- Ensure Lessons Learned, HFE issues, Flawless principles, quality assurance and constructability are considered during all aspects of Pipeline design and specification development
- Provide feedback and recommendations for DEP improvements
- Dimensions
- Technical oversight of multiple EPC engineers spanning up to 20 individual projects (Individual projects range in size of $10M to $500M)
- Provide cost competitive designs while maintaining technical assurance and ALARP safe facilities
- Manage a number of simultaneous projects being engineered by different design teams at multiple locations
- Work in an inter-discipline environment with other engineers located remotely
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- BS Mechanical or Materials Engineering
- Professional engineer is desirable
- 15+ years experience in Pipeline Engineering
- Project development and execution experience beneficial
- Familiarity with E&P type facilities beneficial
- Must have working knowledge of design and construction of pipelines built to US DOT Regulations, ASME B31.4, and ASME B31.8
