Responsibilities:

DAR job scopes include the following: 1) Decommissioning of equipment, facilities 2) Remediation of soils on site 3) Restoration and reclamation of sites 4) participate in abandonment activities. Other duties include:

• Responsible for the design, execution and financial management of Projects & Technology onshore well site and facility demolition, restoration and remediation/reclamation
• Expertise in soil and groundwater assessment and remediation techniques as well as civil construction expertise required to restore road,lease and pad developments to their original contours
• Capable of coordinating a number of projects simultaneously across large geographical areas in North America
• Provide guidance to third party consultants when there is significant HSE, environmental or public concerns related to a project
• Support the development and implementation of the annual DAR program in P&T
• Provides leadership, coaching, facilitation, strategy and analysis to the business units to assist them in managing their DAR liabilities and assets
• Provides project management services and direct supervision for DAR project
• Accountable for the HSSE performance on all of their direct projects
• Investigate or assist with the investigation of incidents, near misses, equipment/property damage and HIPO’s in their area of responsibility and participate in root cause analysis of major incidents as required, wherever they may occur
• Provide direction and coaching to Consultant Supervisors and Contractors under their direction in order to meet time, cost and safety targets
• Facilitates the development of the P&T annual DAR program and budget
• Conducts liability assessments of properties and updates the DAR data base where required
• Provide advice and recommendations on acquisition/divestment of properties that may have oil and gas activity related impacts
• Manage the planning and execution of DAR projects through the use of consultants and contractors
• Focal point for expertise in the assessment and application of new technologies and best practices in remediation processes
• Interprets Government regulations and guidelines required to plan and execute DAR funded work in P&T
• Represents Shell P&T in external discussions and negotiations with regulatory agencies on site assessments and remediation strategies as required.
• Interfaces directly with landowners on remediation processes for DAR activities
• Responsible for input to the DAR Database,which is the program for monitoring the status of DAR sites from abandonment to reclamation certification
• Responsible for DAR document management system and filing

Requirements:

• High School/GED Diploma; some college coursework preferred
• 3 - 5 years experience in construction management
• Work with Geomatics, Surface Land, C&P and Ecosystem Management as required
• Prepare Project Delivery Roadmap for each project as per prescribed thresholds
• Ensure suitable Consultants & Contractors are in place & available to execute work in a timely fashion
• Demonstrate HSE Leadership to foremen, contractors and other personnel on DAR sites
• Provide support as required, including waste management, & emergency response
• Participate in After Action Reviews (AAR) of the project
• Strong background in historical and current operating practices which supports their expertise in analyzing site assessments and developing the strategy for remediation programs
• Project management skills to direct DAR projects from inception to field completion
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence operations management, contract services, landowners and Government representatives
• In-depth technical expertise and experience in remediation and restoration
• Strong computer related skills in use and software
