Role synopsis Coordinate course design, delivery, assignments and tracking for HSE-related training. Work with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s), vendors, management and work force (BP and Contractor) to assure appropriate training is identified, available and trackable.

Key accountabilities Function / Technical:
  • Oversee content development, design and delivery for approximately 150 HSE courses in BPXA’s training program
  • Manage vendor contracts for instructors and training service providers. Initiate contracts, manage contracts and oversee payment for training services
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to assure training meets regulatory requirements and BP policies.
  • Coordinate course updates with SMEs and instructors
  • Manage Contractor Training delivery for BP-specific courses: define requirements, develop and maintain contractor training access website
  • Oversee contractor team who performs course scheduling/logistics, delivery, roster entry, and instructor oversight
  • Develop and maintain the HSE training matrices which define training requirements for all BP positions.
  • Manage the process for assigning necessary training to personnel according to job tasks performed.
  • Participate in the North Slope Training Cooperative
  • Provide guidance regarding the training aspect of ISNetworld for BP and Contractors
  • Respond to requests for training records during audits or inspections.
  • Develop and maintain HSE training procedures
  • Manage monthly reconciliation process for overdue training
  • Support training effectiveness evaluation and improvement process
Safety / HSSE / Crisis Management
  • Manage all HSE concerns in a professional and timely manner
  • Manage all activity considering Personal & Process Safety Expectations
Leadership Expectations
  1. Maintain compliance with compulsory training
  2. Agree Personal Development Plan (PDP), including development training needed to fulfill PDP
  3. Effectively listen for and solicit team inputs using two-way communication
  4. Be available to team to allow timely resolution of workforce issues

  6. Actively manage risk reduction and drive safe, reliable, efficient operations
  7. Support Discipline Capability Training Team Lead in continuous improvement for training program
Essential Education:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma
Essential experience and job requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the Process Industry (Upstream, Downstream, Engineering or HSSE)
  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership / management position with a track record of delivery and leadership skills
  • Work experience in the learning and organizational development field, including training and instructional design
Other essential skills and knowledge:
  • Ability to work multiple on-going projects and tasks
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulations, interpretations and applicability of such regulations to training
  • Excellent networking, influencing and facilitation skills, interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with, and influence individuals at all levels in the organization
  • Excellent organizational, planning and prioritizing skills
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and ability to work in multi-cultural settings.
  • Intermediate-level or greater expertise in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Expertise with electronic Learning Management Systems
Desirable criteria & qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles, various instructional methods, delivery options, and training measurement and evaluation approaches
  • Experience evaluating effectiveness of safety and compliance training programs
  • Familiar with BP internal systems: eInvoicing, VTA, Contract Management systems, timekeeping approval systems
