Job Summary/Purpose
- Assistant Housekeeper – Rooms, assists the Executive Housekeeper and Assistant Executive Housekeeper in directing and maintaining the Housekeeping Department in accordance with the policies, standards and guidelines established by Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts. Supervises the Room Attendant and conducts standard quality checks.

- Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists the Executive Housekeeper with the planning, organization and supervision of the cleaning and maintenance of the floors. Specific responsibilities include guest rooms, corridors, pantries, floor service areas and fire escape stairs.
- Initiates and maintains effective communication within the Housekeeping Department and with other departments.
- Greets all guests with eye contact and genuine smile
- Ensures that the policies and procedure of Shangri-La Hotels and Resort are implemented
- Assists the Executive Housekeeper in maintaining standards by proper selection of staff and through training and supervision; initiates counselling and disciplinary action for staff in the Housekeeping Department when necessary.Training of all staff.
- Prepares duty rosters for all floor staff in advance in accordance with local requirements and occupancy needs.
- Supervises daily room assignments.
- Checks on maintaining proper par stocks for linen, cleaning and guest room amenities supplies.
- Ensure proper recording and filing of all relevant records or lists.
- Inspects all VIP rooms.
- Ensures proper care and use of equipment, carts and baskets.
- Maintains high cleaning standards on all floors.
- Carries out periodically set inventories with regard to linen, and guest room supplies.
- Coordinates the maintenance of Carpets and Upholstery.
- Ensures regular and Preventive Maintenance in the rooms and corridors.
- Offers all possible assistance to guests.
- Rotates duties with Service Leader – Public Area in order to be fully conversed with all areas in Housekeeping Department.
- Attends multi-skilling training in all different sections of Room / Laundry / Linen / Uniform to maximize work performance and productivity.
- Assumes other duties assigned by the Executive Housekeeper.
- In all incidents, provides Management with concise reports and takes action to avoid repetition of any incidents, accidents and complaints of similar nature.
- Ensures maximum safety of guests and employees during emergencies
- Is thoroughly familiar with available emergency services and the fastest way of obtaining them.
- Ensures that all security policies and procedures are observed in the department.
