Job Description
    WorleyParsons Nuclear Electrical Engineer
  • Department Operations - May assist in department operations activities such as: encourage project team knowledge of and compliance with department guidelines and company procedures. Identify division or department issues and forward to department management team. Support ongoing operation of department sub-groups. Elevate interdisciplinary vendor and client issues to more senior project team members.
  • Department Communications - May assist department communications activities such as: attend/participate in periodic department meetings. Identify division risk/liability concerns and forward to department management.
  • Health, Safety and Environmental - Support and participate in, and ensure use of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs. Facilitate atmosphere of concern for HSE issues.
  • Business Development Support - May assist with business development activities such as: maintain latest career information on employee resumes. May support business development proposal efforts. Maintain positive working relationships with client contacts, suppliers, installation contractors, other engineering consultants, and external agencies.
  • New Employee Orientation - Support new employee orientation activities. Facilitate atmosphere where new employees' first impressions are positive.
  • Employee Allocation Program - Support project team vacation coverage and workarounds. Support employee reallocation and unplanned employee absence activities.
  • Employee Development Program - Mentor/train and facilitate mentorship/training of department employees. Participate in and facilitate external training, internal engineering design system (EDS)/engineering applications (EA) training, and internal department training.
  • Employee Performance Management Program - Forward employee/team achievements and employee performance issues to department management. Participate in performance reviews. Participate in employee/team recognition activities.
  • Employee Departures - Assist in determining employment issues and market pressures. Assist in identifying chronic or systemic employee concerns.
  • Technical Competency Assurance Program - May assist with technical competency assurance activities such as: have knowledge of and comply with department engineering practices. Adhere to generally accepted engineering/design practice. Support standardization of calculations/analyses/studies/reports. Support standardization of equipment specifications/data sheets/selection. Contribute to engineering/design knowledge. Encourage use of intranet based technical resources. Adhere to regulatory codes and standards. Adhere to engineering laws and guidelines. Adhere to client guidelines, standards, and specifications whenever viable and lawful. Adhere to corporate guidelines.
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control Program - Have knowledge of and comply with department quality assurance and quality control guidelines. Participate in technical audits. Support CAD checking and incorporation of comments. Support engineering/design technical checking and incorporation of comments.
  • Project Scope/Cost/Time Management - Be knowledgeable regarding the project scope/cost/time requirements and assist team in meeting expectations.
  • Project Quality Management - Be knowledgeable regarding the project quality management requirements and assist team in meeting expectations.
  • Project Risk Management - Be knowledgeable regarding the project risk management requirements and assist team in meeting expectations.
  • Project Communication Management - May assist with project communication management. Participate in inter-discipline reviews of deliverables, distribute deliverables, send originals/copies to central filing, handle electronic files with the client, and dispose of unretained documents.
  • Project Human Resources Management - Be knowledgeable regarding the project human resources requirements.
  • Project Procurement Management - May assist with project procurement management. Participate in assessing supplier capabilities and make recommendations to client, respond to supplier questions, complete bid tabulation and make recommendation to client, and handle supplier change requests.
  • Engineering Calculations/Analyses/Studies - Gathers data or assists in gathering data from multiple sources. Prepares or assists in preparing engineering calculations, engineering analyses, and engineering studies. Writes, or assists in writing, final reports and makes recommendations.
  • Technical Deviations/Technical Queries - Assists or controls the steps to determine issue, define problem, identify the pros and cons of multiple solutions, and makes recommendations for technical deviations from client specifications or technical queries. Creates or assists in the creation of final documentation incorporating all relevant information and pursuit of client authorization.
  • Code Variances - Assists or controls the steps of interpreting regulatory codes and amendments, determining issues, defining problem, identifying the pros and cons of multiple solutions. Assists or controls the creation of final documentation incorporating all relevant information and pursuit of authorization from the local governing body.
  • Engineering Study Based Procurement - Assists or controls incorporating information from engineering calculations, analyses, and studies into equipment specifications, data sheets, testing requirements, and material requisitions for engineering study based equipment. Assists or controls inter-discipline vendor document review and approval, factory acceptance testing and certification.
  • Design Calculations/Analyses - May gather data or assist in gathering data from multiple sources. May prepare or assist in preparing design calculations and design analyses.
  • Design Based Procurement - May incorporate or assist in incorporating information from design calculations and analyses into equipment specifications, data sheets, testing requirements, and material requisitions for design based equipment.
Job Requirements
  1. BS or MS in related field or applicable discipline, typically an engineering degree; or equivalent experience if allowed by law. Basic knowledge of applicable theories, practices, and accepted procedures. Generally 2-4 years of experience in field with BS, or 0-2 years of experience in field with MS; EIT or relevant professional registration preferred.
  2. Intermediate level position which is able to take the basic skills learned previously and apply them with increasing independence - able to do the tasks with increasing initiative. Individuals must be able to perform less routine work, and understand the components of project execution related to the work being performed. Solves varied, but straight-forward problems, analyzing and selecting solutions from learned range alternatives. Typically assigned specific responsibilities within projects, programs, or processes.
  3. Computer proficiency required; Proficient with engineering software applications; Solid analytical and problem solving skills. Accuracy and attention to detail important. Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities are important. Effective written and verbal communication skills in English are important.
  4. Commitment to customer service and ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Ability to maintain confidential information is critical.
  5. Generally characterized as a "Task Completer", with limited ability to initiate and/or recommend optional theories or problem solutions with ability to independently establish work tasks in order to successfully meet expectations.
  6. Typically will interface with departmental staff and lower and middle management, and sometimes outside customers.
