Leighton Asia is looking for high-calibre candidates to fill this position in Hong Kong.

Duties and responsibilities:

• The Tunnel Superintendent / Supervisor (Shift Boss) is responsible for driving the construction team to meet the set daily / shift production goals for the tunnel project. They are also responsible for providing the primary means for information exchange between the operational team and the Project Management team. The Tunnel Superintendent / Supervisor must motivate and encourage employees to achieve project commitments and must also be able to represent clearly and forcefully the needs of the operational areas and to ensure that site and trades expertise is adequate. The position also requires that the incumbent dedicates a significant proportion of his time to the continued and ongoing training of all tunnel staff and as such will be required to develop a good working relationship with all tunnel workers.

Requirements:

• Manage the labour associated with the tunnel activities and ensure that suitably skilled labour is available at all times
• Assist in identifying and meeting the training and development needs of field staff and ensure all personnel training is signed off
• Coordinate all aspects of the tunnel construction to ensure they are carried out to meet the requirements of programme, budget, contractual standards, safety standards and government regulations
• Monitor the productivity of the works in order to maximise progress and project achievements.
• Identify problem areas and investigate corrective actions
• Assist and develop harmonious relations with the Tunnel workforce
• Provide technical advice as required to the Tunnel Management team
• Allocate responsibility for work being undertaken within the tunnel
• Report any problems immediately to the Tunnel Superintendent and report on a regular basis on the progress of tunnelling activities
• Develop a culture of active safety participation amongst all employees
• Maintain daily shift report to ensure that site activities are permanently recorded.
