Newcrest Mining Limited is looking for a Plant Metallurgist for its Telfer Gold Mine. The role will be aimed at monitoring and improving the metallurgical and operational performance of the processing plant and to provide technical support to the operation while maintaining a safety, behaviour and cost commitment consistent with Newcrest values.

Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, you will work closely with the Metallurgy team, Production Superintendent and Production Supervisors to support operations to meet production targets and maintain site standards for occupational health, safety and environment.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Provision of technical input into the operation of the plant to ensure budget and forecast production targets and costs are met
• Monitoring, optimising and reporting of plant performance
• Ensuring innovation and continuous improvement of the operation, including completion of key projects
• Effective communication and stakeholder management
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly metallurgical accounting and production planning as required
• Ensure safety is a key focus and never compromised

Experience, Qualifications & Systems required to ensure success in this role:

• BS or BE in Extractive Metallurgy, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Diploma of Applied Science or related discipline
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Experience in Flotation and CIP/CIL gold processing favourable
• Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
• Behaviour consistent with Newcrest values
