NSW Energy Coal is 100% owned by BHP Billiton and consists of the Mt Arthur Coal Operation and the Caroona Coal Project. NSW Energy Coal also manages BHP Billiton's 35% shareholding in the Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group and interfaces with the Newcastle Port and rail. The Asset is managed from the Mt Arthur Coal operation which is located 5km south west of Muswellbrook in the picturesque upper Hunter Valley, 125 north west of Newcastle in NSW. The Mt Arthur Coal mine is currently undertaking a major expansion, which will take production capacity to 20mtpa. The mine has further growth opportunities via development of adjacent opencut reserves and participation in NCIG port expansion. NSW Energy Coal is a leader in safety, productivity and environmental management.

Role and Responsibilities:

• The Field Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the electric rope shovel and hydraulic excavator fleet and ancillary in-pit equipment at Mt Arthur Coal.
• The purpose of the role is to maximise equipment availability and minimise production downtime through proactive work planning, organisation of resources, supervision and support of shift maintenance crews in a safe, reliable and cost effective manner.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Development of the long and medium term maintenance plans, budgets and forecasts, and contribute to cost control activities.
• Ensuring that appropriate equipment maintenance plans are in place and continually improved.
• Liaison with planning and operations to review and prioritise work load and set weekly work schedules.
• Resourcing and supervising appropriate personnel to carry out all field maintenance inspections and repairs in a safe and efficient manner.
• Attending to all breakdown maintenance requirements and ensuring equipment is repaired safely with minimum loss of production.
• Ensuring that contractors and others work safely and create zero harm to the environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Qualified tradesperson in the Electrical or Mechanical engineering field and/or engineering qualifications.
• Experience in heavy mining is desirable.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Preventive and predictive maintenance skills.
• Resource planning skills.
