BHP Billiton's Minerals Exploration Group plays a critical role in restocking BHP Billiton's project pipeline to secure a strong foundation of growth for future generations. We actively pursue global exploration opportunities, with a focus on discovering and acquiring large, long-life, high quality assets. Our Minerals Exploration head office is located in Singapore, with regional offices in Perth, Johannesburg and Santiago.

Role Responsibilities

• This is a highly practical, hands-on role responsible for providing coaching, advice and field support to all minerals exploration projects in South America.
• Reporting to the Regional HSEC & Risk Manager (Americas), you will work closely with our Geoscience and Operations teams to design and then implement comprehensive Project Execution Plans which identify and manage HSEC-related risks.
• You will also be involved in field-based HSEC support to geophysical and drilling activities by travelling and working in often remote areas, and in closing conformance gaps identified through personal observation and formal audits.
• The focus of this particular position is on the Community and Environmental aspects of exploration.

Role Requirements

• Ideally we seek an individual with previous experience in an Community Relations, however candidates just graduate as anthropologist, sociologist or human sciences career with no much experience will also be viewed favourably.
• With excellent communication and facilitation skills.
• Local travel, and significant time in the field, will be a feature of this position.
• The succesful applicant will be required to have native Spanish and good written and spoken English.
